After All These Years, the Chevy Suburban Remains a Classic
The Chevy Suburban is a full-sized SUV relied upon by American families and businesses for over 75 years, and it remains a popular choice among those who have large passenger and cargo needs. The 2013 Suburban is available to Bloomingdale families at Sunrise Chevrolet, located in Glendale Heights, on E North Ave, just east of Bloomingdale Road.
A Long Trusted Name in the Auto Industry
The Suburban holds the distinction of being the longest running nameplate currently in production, having originally debuted in 1934. The original Chevy Suburban was a station wagon styled vehicle. Over the years, the Suburban would gradually increase in size, adding nearly two feet to its overall length.
The name ‘Suburban’ was actually used by several auto companies, including Plymouth, Dodge, and GMC. It wasn’t until 1988 that GM would receive an exclusive trademark on the name. Besides the longevity of its name, the Suburban has also outlasted similar models like the Jeep Wagoneer and the Ford Excursion, making it the largest available SUV on the market.
The Current Suburban Model
The 2013 Suburban, as well as its Three-Quarter Ton trim model, can seat up to 9 passengers, while still leaving 45.8 cubic feet of storage behind the third row of seats. If you’re not utilizing the rows behind the driver, storage can be increased to 137.4 cubic feet of storage.
As for power, the standard Suburban comes with a Vortec 5.3L V8 with a max towing capability of 8,100lbs. As for the Three-Quarter Ton model, a Vortec 6.0L V8 comes standard, giving the Suburban a max towing rating of 9,600lbs.
When it comes to features, all models come standardly equipped with Bluetooth wireless connectivity for select cell phones, allowing you to place hands-free calls. A 6-month trial of OnStar Directions and Connections also comes free, and other available features include a rear view-camera to help with backing up, a sunroof, and a rear seat DVD entertainment system.
