Chevrolet Cruze

Affordability, Reliability, and Safety Define the Chevy Cruze

The Cruze has a bit of a curious past; the model folks know and love today is not the same vehicle that debuted back in 2001, not by a long shot. Between 2001 and 2008, the Chevy Cruze was a subcompact hatchback manufactured with Suzuki.

The Cruze You Know

Since 2008, however, the Cruze has been the four-door compact auto that you’re probably much more familiar with. The “J300” compact car, as it was called internally, served to replace the Chevy Cobalt and featured the front-wheel drive Delta II platform designed by GM, with a body structure composed of 65% high-strength steel for security and durability.

Models have included hatchback and wagon versions, in addition to the four-door sedan, although the Cruze received a facelift in 2012, setting recent model year vehicles apart from the rest.

Starting in 2012, the Cruze featured modified headlights, a new front bumper design, upgraded equipment, and brand new engine options.

The base model of the sedan, the LS trim, came standard with a 1.8L engine, power accessories, and air conditioning, although other trim levels, such as the LT and LTZ, carried options such as a 1.4L turbocharged engine. Drivers could also choose an Eco model that was especially designed for improved fuel economy with aerodynamic enhancements and a shutter that controls airflow.

Safety technology improved with the facelift as well, with ten airbags, electronic stability control, and more modern safety features included standard.

Both the 2012 and 2013 Cruze are available now at Sunrise Chevrolet.
