Efficient Design
The 2017 Chevrolet Bolt is a four-door hatchback with a sleek, modern look in line with the rest of the new Chevrolet lineup. At the core of this model’s is an emphasis on efficiency. The result is a model with naturally flowing sculpted lines that increase aerodynamics to maximize performance and fuel economy. Unlike many vehicles that require air intake to cool the engine and create combustion, this electric vehicle doesn’t. This allows the underbody to be completely closed off, which minimizes drag and increases efficiency even more while also making for a smoother, more responsive ride.

Performance Specs and Electric Range
At the heart of this electric car is an electric motor mated to a direct-drive transmission. This system gets its power from a 60 kWh nickel-rich lithium-ion battery pack with a total energy capacity of 60 kWh, which is enough for it to run for up to 238 miles on a single charge. All of this is to say that, as of current estimates, the Chevy Bolt is expected to outpace the Tesla Model 3 in this critical area of EV performance. The Bolt’s driving range is helped in part due to Regen On Demand, a regenerative braking system that captures the kinetic energy released as your vehicle is braking and recycles it back into the vehicle’s electrical system. Total output on this model is quite strong at up to 200 hp and 266 lb-ft of torque.

Charging
While the Chevy Bolt can charge on a home’s typical 120-volt outlet, the available 240-volt outlet allows you to charge much faster, averaging 25 miles per one hour or charge and a full battery replenishment in around 9.5 hours. You can even program your charge settings using the vehicle’s GPS signal so that it automatically activates when it reaches certain locations like your home. Finally, the available DC Fast Charging station is the first of its kind, and GM estimates that it will get up to 90 miles of range in around just 30 minutes.
