Safety Ratings

The 2015 Chevrolet Cruze received the top rating of five stars for overall safety in crash testing by the National Highway Safety Traffic Administration. It received five stars for total frontal-impact protection as well as total side-impact protection category, which points to high strength and shock absorption in the body, as well as functional airbags.

In IIHS testing, the organization awarded the Cruze their top score of “Good” for the moderate-overlap frontal-offset impact test, as well as for the side-impact, roof-strength, and seat/head restraint tests.

What’s more, the car review site tested the stopping distance of the Cruze on the LTZ level, and found that it stopped in 120 feet when going 60 mph, an excellent score for this class of vehicle!

Standard Safety Features

The 2015 Chevrolet Cruze does have some standard features present on every level of trim and every model. For maintaining control while driving, stability control is standard, as are antilock brakes for ease in slowing and stopping on slippery roads or rough surfaces. Crash impact mitigation features include full-length side curtain airbags, as well as front knee airbags and side-impact airbags on the front and rear. The OnStar telematics system also comes standard, with safety features like on-demand roadside assistance, automatic crash notification, and more.

Advanced Safety Features

While the lower level trims feature a brake system with a front disc and rear drum, the 2LT, LTZ, and Diesel trim levels have four-wheel disc brakes for quicker stopping with a more engine power. Optional features are ample for most trim levels. A rearview camera will help with parking and rear area monitoring, while blind spot monitoring helps you keep track of those areas around your vehicle you wouldn’t be able to see otherwise. A rear cross-traffic alert system helps you notice when there are pedestrians or other obstacles behind your vehicle when you’re ready to back up.
