The 2015 Chevrolet Camaro Sports Plenty of Power

By Sunrise Chevrolet | March 31st, 2015

2015 Chevrolet CamaroSunrise Chevrolet customers know that the Chevrolet Camaro has long been a top performance choice. But the2015 Chevrolet Camaro just might be the most powerful of them all. Whatever your driving needs, they’ll be more than met with this vehicle’s four different engines options for four different types of sporty, muscular driving. Read on to see how the engines specs compare!

The LT and LS get a V6

At the basic LT and LS levels, you’ll get a 3.6L V6 engine, producing a whopping 323 hp and 278 lb-ft of torque. The standard six-speed manual transmission gets 28 mpg highway, according to the EPA, while the optional six-speed automatic transmission boosts it to 30 mpg highway. The 2LS automatic transmission has a differing gear ratio in the final drive, which does change the fuel efficiency of the vehicle. This is the most mellow of the 2015 Chevy Camaro engines, but it’s more than enough power for excellent acceleration and the nimble handling that goes hand in hand with a sports-car driving style.

Sporty Power With the SS

The SS sports a 6.2L V8 which produces 426 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque when paired with its standard manual six-speed transmission. This transmission allows the SS to accelerate from zero to 60 mph in just 4.8 seconds! When paired with the optional six-speed automatic transmission, it produces 400 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque. This engine provides more than enough power for a tire-smoking burnout or any other sporty racing maneuver.

Plenty of Power With the ZL1

The ZL1 level has a supercharged 6.2L V8, which produces an impressive 580 hp and 556 lb-ft of torque. With the standard six-speed manual, it can accelerate from zero to 60 in just 4.4 seconds. The optional six-speed automatic clocks the acceleration in at a still impressive 4.6 seconds. The 2015 Chevy Camaro ZL1 provides the responsive steering and confident handling that allows you to take winding roads or sharp curves with ease. It also provides adaptive suspension for a more comfortable ride, as well as Brembo brakes for better stopping power.

Muscular Performance With the Z/28

The Z/28 racing model sports a 7.0L V8 engine that produces 505 hp and 481 lb-ft of torque. The only transmission offered is a six-speed manual gearbox. This engine is top-of-the-line for the Camaro and akin to a track-ready race car. The suspension is racing-tuned, making for a responsive ride. The racing-slick tires are likewise responsive, providing little stability but plenty of speed. This engine can be pushed to the limit but will take an experienced driver to handle the full range of its performance.
