2019 Chevy Malibu Ups Its Sportiness With its First-Ever RS Trim

You’ll love the new take on this classic with the 2019 Chevrolet Malibu’s new front fascia and Rally Sport trim for the first time. With these additional design options, you can take home a Malibu that fits your driving needs and style so every trip will be a drive to look forward to. Beyond the performance-inspired styles for the 2019 model year, the Malibu will also get updates to the tech, convenience, and comfort features in the cabin.

“We see an exciting opportunity with the 2019 Malibu to give customers new, distinctive choices, exemplified by Malibu RS,” said Steve Majoros, Chevrolet marketing director for Cars and Crossovers. “It offers athletic design and amazing features at an attractive price point starting between Malibu LS and LT trims.”

The 2019 Malibu’s new RS trim offers a sporty appearance and starts with a price point at around $25,000. It’s quite a bargain driven by styling cues that include 18-inch machined wheels, black sport grille, black bowtie emblems, a rear spoiler, and a dual-outlet exhaust. Inside, the sleek Malibu RS features a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter, black cloth seats, and a standard 8-inch color touchscreen running the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 system.

But you don’t have to upgrade to the RS for a more assertive look, all 2019 Chevrolet Malibus will receive an updated front fascia, new headlamps, and a fresh grille. Chevy integrated the headlights with the upper grille and the larger, bolder lower grille, giving the car a more powerful presence that leaves an impression when other drivers see it in their rearview mirror. Classy chrome details accent the grille and headlights for a more premium look in every trim level.

When you upgrade to the Premier trim, you get high-performance LED headlights while new LED daytime-running lamps are a part of the LT and Premier trims. Around back, the new rear valence edges the dual-exhaust outlets farther toward the corners, emphasizing the Malibu’s wide, low stance. And the redesigned taillights offer a more dramatic take on Chevrolet’s signature dual-element design. For the LT and Premier trims, these taillights are LED for added elegance.

“The Malibu’s fresh look refines and enhances the sculptural beauty of the Malibu,” said John Cafaro, executive director, Global Chevrolet Design. “It will also be an obvious member of the Chevrolet car family.”

Also new for the 2019 Chevrolet Malibu is the standard 8-inch touchscreen running Chevrolet Infotainment 3 system. Take the time to set it up once, then it integrates with your smartphone so you can access your favorite apps, music, and navigation. Upgrade to the Premier trim and get the added comfort of heated outboard rear seats and the convenience of the new 8-inch reconfigurable driver information center display.

Choose the standard 1.5-liter turbo engine for a smooth, efficient drive. The continuously variable transmission delivers smooth acceleration and enhances fuel economy. Or upgrade to the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that’s paired to a nine-speed automatic transmission for more pep. With both engine options, you’ll have new wheel designs to choose in 16-, 17- and 18-inch sizes.

The restyled Malibu joins the 2019 Cruze and Spark as part of Chevrolet’s freshened car portfolio. It goes on sale this fall but you can stop by today to test drive any of our in-stock 2018 Chevy Malibu models to shop for the trim that’s right for you. See our complete Malibu inventory online now.
