The Chevrolet Traverse is a larger crossover SUV that serves as an alternative for large families to the minivan. The 2014 Chevy Traverse saw a number of changes, so what might we expect for the 2015 Chevrolet Traverse at our Glendale Heights car dealership? It doesn’t look like a full redesign is coming for a bit, but some significant changes may still be on the way.
Performance and Fuel Economy
Currently, the Traverse comes with a 3.6L V6 producing 281 hp and 266 lb-ft of torque, though a dual-exhaust option can boost output to 288 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. There doesn’t need to be a more powerful engine, but we could see a turbocharged four-cylinder introduced. This could offer the same amount of power while improving on the current 17 mpg city and 24 mpg highway rating. Other features like automatic stop-start and cylinder deactivation could also help boost fuel economy.
The Traverse already comes very well equipped. Even at the base LS level you get Bluetooth, a rearview camera, and a 6.5-inch touchscreen display. 2015 might also see some higher trim features and optional accessories become standard or move down the trim levels.
We could also see Chevy adding a cooling box for the Traverse. It’s a feature that has been appearing in some minivans lately and will likely soon be offered in other vehicles like CUVs. A cool box allows you to keep your drinks nice and chilly on long car rides!
Based on the current model, we estimate the price for the 2015 Traverse will be around $31,000. In terms of arrival date, expect to see it at Sunrise Chevy in fall of 2014.
